Two young daughters of the al-Hilli family survived. Investigators discovered an old Luger pistol, cigarette butts and ambiguous motives — yet no definitive conclusion. As of 2025, the case remains open and investigators recently ordered new DNA tests to unlock the mystery of this brutal and remote crime.
